Job Opening – Engineer

Job Description
Performs difficult professional work supporting Development, Streets, and Utilities by providing planning, design, right-of-way, utility, construction and project management, and related work as assigned. Work is performed under the direction of the Director of Development.


  • Assist in developing and administering capital improvement projects for streets, drainage and other public infrastructure projects.
  • Oversee preparation of construction plans, specifications, and on-site surveys and solicit and review bids from contractors on construction projects. Provide estimates of project costs.
  • Manage capital projects in coordination with the Indianapolis MPO and under the guidance of the INDOT project development process manuals.
  • Maintain inventory of roads, bridges, culverts, and signs in coordination with GIS.
  • Develop and implement traffic engineering studies and recommends related ordinances as needed, including researching driving speeds, traffic volume, and regulatory/warning signs.
  • Pursue and write grant applications for funding of capital infrastructure projects.
  • Review various plans/specifications for compliance with Town ordinances, rules and regulations, such as subdivisions, large developments, residential and commercial drives, and utility permit applications. Coordinate planning efforts with other government agencies, including providing subdivision technical assistance/information to developers, builders, utility companies, and property owners regarding entrance and exit right-of-way road construction and repair standards.


  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • Indiana Professional Engineer license
  • Thorough knowledge of local and INDOT policies and procedures with regards to capital project development processes; excellent communication skills, both oral and written; ability to work independently and in a team environment.


  • Starting salary of $70,000 to $80,000 per year, depending upon qualifications; (40 hours per week).
